Participants in the art exhibit:
Dawn Sellers and Emily Doster from South Paulding High School
Gayle Maglione and Breanne Cox from East Paulding High School
Anne Aurand from North Paulding High School
Brooke Frankland from Hiram High School
Juliana Thomas from Paulding County High School

Talk about their artwork was held at the reception and again at our July 26th PFAA Meeting.
It was interesting to hear and understand how the seven art teachers started and worked on the collaborative art works.

Tom MacMillan - September 2015 Exhibit
Paulding Fine Arts is proud to present the work of our own Thomas (Tom) MacMillan as our September 2015 Exhibit. Some of you may have seen Mr. MacMillan about town with his easel and paints.  He loves to paint outdoors (when it's not too hot or too cold) and has produced some very nice images of some of downtown Dallas, including "portraits" of some houses down Confederate, Main and Hardee Streets.  Many of these works will be on display in this exhibit.

Mr. MacMillan was born in Port Glasgow, Scotland in the late 1920s and served in the RAF.  Tom came to the states and located in Ohio and became a U.S. Citizen in 1958.  He worked in the glass industry as a Mechanical Designer in Columbus, Ohio.  Upon retiring he was fortunate to work with other artists at the Columbus Cultural Art Center for 5 years.

He says when one reaches the young age of 88 the old bones complain, the eyes are a little dimmer and the time spent sitting gets shorter.  His works are colorful and peaceful and the viewer can't help but smile and feel a little happy inside.

Please join us for a reception to open Tom's exhibit and meet this interesting man on Sunday, August 30, 2015 between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios located at 11 Courthouse Square in downtown Dallas, Ga (2nd floor of the OLD Paulding County Courthouse).  If you can't make the reception, the exhibit will be on display through October 2nd.  Gallery hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week.

Vice President: Peggy Cline
Secretary: Jane Hricz
Treasurer: Paulette Cheek

2 New Board Members:
Faye McLain

It is very helpful to have two docents at the same time on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. This allows one person to remain near the front of the gallery to greet visitors and be in the gift shop, while the other "tours" guests around the studios and gallery.
But we can split shifts if necessary (10-2; 12-4 or 10-1; 1-4)

We would like to remind each member, if you have work hanging in the Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios, you have a responsibility to volunteer as gallery docent.  We are so very fortunate as an organization to have been bestowed this beautiful space.  We need to do all we can to take full advantage of it.   We appreciate everyone who is and will volunteer.

Tell your friends to come see you while you are volunteering.  Bring your paints, pens, pencils, art magazines, make it fun and productive.  Let's ALL paint together when the Gallery is open!  We should be experiencing this wonderful space as often as possible!! The Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios is the home of The Paulding Fine Arts Association and our gathering place! Come feel the creative energy!

Susan Gore Gardner - 35 Years in Art - January 2014 Art Exhibit
For 35 years Susan Gore Gardner has been capturing on paper the inspiring world around her.  From birds & wildlife, landscapes and uniquely Southern still lifes to her current series of dynamic musician portraits, Susan's subjects may vary but they all share an appreciation of color and light.  This exhibition at the Paulding Fine Arts Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios Courthouse Gallery will include colored pencil drawings and pastel paintings.

Susan's career as a professional artist began in 1979 when a lifelong love of drawing blossomed into a profession, ignited by the simultaneous encounter with the then-new medium of Prismacolor colored pencils and college courses in Art History, Drawing and Printmaking.  She began exhibiting her colored pencil artwork in art festivals and gallery exhibits throughout the Southeast.  In 1990 Susan encountered the medium of pastels and was intrigued with the immediacy of working with sticks of pure color.  As an evolution in style and subject matter began to take place, Susan had the remarkable opportunity to study privately with nationally known painter Robert Meredith whose influence has been profound in Susan’s current style and subjects.  Currently Susan is working on an ongoing series of landscapes based on her travels to New York, Pennsylvania, Arizona and western Europe.  She is also listening to select music while devoting many happy hours to capturing likenesses of guitarists and musicians on paper.

A reception to celebrate this exhibit will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014 in the Courtroom Gallery of the Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios, located on the 2nd floor of the OLD Paulding County Courthouse - 11 Courthouse Square, Dallas GA.  The reception will begin at 2:00pm and last until 4:00pm.  The public is invited to come view the exhibit and meet this talented artist.

Regular hours for the Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios are Thursday - Friday - Saturday; 10:00am - 4:00pm.  This exhibit will be on display through the month of January 2014.

Susan's Recent Awards include:
3rd Place, Southeastern Pastel Society Juried Members Exhibition, Carrollton GA.
1st Place Drawing, Paulding Fine Arts Association Annual Fall Art Competition, Dallas GA.

PFAA in the Historic Courthouse
PFAA has aquired the 2nd floor of the old Courthouse in downtown Dallas. Many THANKS to all that have helped clean and paint. This has taken many weeks. We still have a lot to prepare, but are very excited to have this extra space to promote the Fine Arts in Paulding County.
We are having a contest to design a logo for this space.  We haven't come up with the exact name yet (so if you have an idea, incorporate it into your logo desgin) - the space will be gallery and studio space and we're thinking words like Historic, Courthouse, Art District, Gallery and Studios might possibly find their way into the name.  So put on your thinking caps and send your entries to the PFAA Board - Leslie Grant, Tim Hammons, Faye McLain, Evelyn Reynoso, Julie Barfield, David Kelly (David doesn't have e-mail) and Joyce Walraven and Jane Hricz.

Monthly Art Night at Chicken World Restaurant
Saturday, March 3, 2012 was the first of what we hope to be a long association with Chicken World, Baby! Since Hiram Coffee House closed in 2011 we've been looking for a home for our first Saturday Art Nights. Customers of Chicken World can enjoy the beautiful mosaic work of Mother-Daughter team Virginia Moore and Julie Barfield during the month of March. Virginia (Mom) is currently a full time student at Kennesaw State University, pursuing an art education degree while daughter, Julie works just down from Chicken World with her WC Home Improvment and Stained Glass business. Wonderful Don Maier Watercolor Demonstration at our March Meeting

Don Maier did a wonderful watercolor demonstration at our March 22,2011 Meeting. He showed us a watercolor that he painted in Florida on Captiva Island, then showed us step by step how he painted it. Then he showed us a video of many of his beautiful watercolors. He is very talented. You can find his work at Gallery 4463. This is just one of the many demonstrations we have at our monthly meetings. Join PFAA and participate in more of the upcoming events and demonstrations.
